26.05.2020 - 6th International Symposium on Knowledge and Capacity for the Water Sector - ONLINE MEETING

From Capacity Development to Implementation Science

As scientists around the world race to create effective antivirals and vaccines in the fight against COVID-19, the international water community has likewise been looking at what the water sector can, and needs to, do.  This kind of global unpredictability, complexity, and the need for resilience - in terms of water availability, quality, management and sustainability - is at the core of IHE Delft’s 6th International Symposium on Knowledge and Capacity Development: From Capacity Development to Implementation Science.

Having taken the decision to go online some weeks ago, we’re creating a platform where 500 conference participants can meet online to discuss issues such as the bridges and barriers to water capacity, the challenges of managing institutional change, managing conflict and negotiations, and using ‘big data’ in making decisions.

Using a mix of webinars, plenaries, chat rooms and video conferencing, we’ll be bringing together scholars, decision-makers and practitioners to discuss the current and future role of capacity development in policy, practice and education. As in previous years the event will act as a catalyst to build commitment among participants that leads to future action and collaboration – with a particular focus on the potential for implementation science in developing future water capacity.
